Valid forms of Identification for notary services
Most Common:
- California Drivers License
- California Issued ID
- US Passport
- Inmate ID card (issued by California Department of Corrections or California Sheriff’s Department)
Other forms of Identifications can also be valid when they include four elements
- photograph
- description
- signature
- serial number.
Examples of other forms of identification (must contain all four elements above):
- Valid Consular Identification document
- Foreign Passport
- Drivers License issued from another state, Mexico or Canada
- Identification card issued by another state
- Employee ID issued by California: city, county, state or agency/office there of
- ID issued by federally recognized tribal government
- US Military ID (Caution: current military ID’s might not contain all the required elements)
